How we make our lavender essential oils
We make our oil the old-fashioned way in small batches: no highly-mechanised farming here.
Our lavender is grown on land adjacent to Loch Leven in Kinross-shire. No pesticides, insecticides, or fertilisers come into contact with the plants.
We hand-cut our blooms to avoid damage caused by alternative harvesting techniques. It also allows us to protect our bees.
The blooms are then taken directly into our workshop 100 metres from the fields where they are steamed.
4. Oil Extraction
The steam in the Copper Still causes the blooms to burst and release the oil. This vapour mixture then travels through a series of copper pipes to cool and liquefy back into water (hydrosol) and oil.
The Lavender Essential Oil is separated and bottled ready for you to enjoy!
